A Devotional Classic
George MacDonald’s The Diary of an Old Soul has provided strength and inspiration for countless Christians down through the years. The poem-a-day faith journal was a notable favourite of C S Lewis, who used to read a portion of it every night, borrowing its “living house” image for use in his own classic, Mere Christianity. Among its other admirers were his brother Warren, American missionary Elisabeth Elliot, and more recently the best selling Christian author John Eldredge.
Also included is MacDonald’s extended poem, “The Disciple,” originally published in 1897.
